Laiya Beach, San Juan, Batangas, Luzon, Philippines- A Beautiful Family Friendly Beach
About Laiya Beach
Laiya Beach is located on the most southern coast of the island of Luzon in the Town of San Juan, Batangas, Philippines. With the Island of Mindoro seen in the distance, the beach is in Sigayan Bay on the Pacific Ocean.
Without doubt, Laiya beach is our recommendation for the best and most family friendly beach in all of southern Luzon. Here you you find a the most beautiful, sandy, quiet and family friendly beach in southern Luzon. Because of this, Laiya Beach is for you.
Laiya Beach is no Boracay. In contrast, there are no large hotels. Likewise, it’s not a party scene. Truly, it’s purely a quiet, family friendly beach.
The beach is a long stretch of sandy beach with beautiful mountains marking its east and west ends.
The sandy beach is not as white and soft as the more famous beaches in the Philippines. For example, some portions of the beach are rocky and pebbly. However, it makes up for that by being quiet and very family friendly.
The sand is great for family fun making sand castles, kite flying, volleyball, Frisbee and walking along the beach.
Laiya beach is perfect for family swimming as there are no big waves. Specifically, I would call them medium or small waves.
The beach is protected from big waves because it sits in a bay, has the mountains on each end, and the mountains of Mindoro across the bay protecting it. The large mountain to the west is Mount Lobo.
Truly, the water is warm and clean.
The water is also great for snorkeling, diving and fishing.
The Fishing Village
There is a fishing village about the middle point of the beach. On account of the fishing village, there are many colorful fishing boats and kayaks in this area. Fresh fish is brought and sold to people in the many small private resorts along the beach. Also, the fishing village is open to buy fresh fish there.
Because of the mountains, it makes for beautiful scenic pictures and gorgeous sunrises and sunsets.
There are many private resorts along Laiya Beach. For example, some are very fancy and expensive. In addition, some are medium size. Finally, some are smaller and less luxurious, almost like camping. In summary, pick the one that fits what you are looking for and your budget the best.

Restaurants and Stores
In fact, restaurants and stores are very limited in Laiya Beach. However, most resorts will have a restaurant or a meal plan. In addition, many resorts will have a kitchen in your accommodations and you can cook on your own. In brief, plan ahead on what your plan is for meals.
If you cook on your own, we suggest that you stop before Laiya Beach to get your supplies. There are good stores in Lipa City. Always, we stop for groceries along the way at the SM Market in Rosario.
Since you are able to get fresh fish from the fishermen families at Laiya Beach, don’t buy any fish at the store .

Renting a Car
If you are really brave and think you can drive in the Philippine traffic, rent a car and drive to Laiya Beach. In fact, the best place to rent a car is at the Manila Airport.
I’m definitely not brave enough to rent a car. To explain why, Filipinos have their way about driving. It is a free for all and kind of fluid dance all in one motion. Furthermore, if you don’t know how to dance, you will be in serious trouble with a rental.
Usually who ever is bigger, in the right position or faster has the right of way. As a result, there is a lot of communication by honking. At the same time, there is a lot of passing and playing chicken in doing do.
Where I come from, it’s a law to stop for a pedestrian crossing the street. On the contrary, pedestrians do not have the right of way in the Philippines.
In summary, if you are brave enough, you can rent a car in the Philippines through the Expedia link below and click on cars.
Hired Van and Driver
The best way that we have found to get to and from Laiya Beach is to hire a van and driver. Certainly, you get there faster, more comfortably, and are not burdened with the confines of public transportation.
In fact, hiring a van and driver is not that costly in the Philippines. It is frequently a negotiated deal based on the distance and length of travel. Nearly always, the customer pays a set rate, plus gas and tolls. Also, a tip is usually expected.
We hired a van and driver each time we went to Laiya beach. Moreover, it was a great way to bring all of Lea’s family.
If you need a van driver to Laiya beach from any destination in Luzon, we recommend that you contact Charie Paras. She and her husband specifically have two vans that they rent with a driver for any destination in Luzon. Without doubt, it is a comfortable feeling in the Philippines to hire someone as a driver that comes well recommended like Charie Paras.
Our driver was Rolly Ona and he is great. Without doubt, he is the best driver in the Philippines. Firstly, he is always on time. Secondly, he is funny, courteous and always helpful. Finally, he is very good at getting through the toughest Manila traffic.
Charie and her husband have vans for rent to any Point of Luzon. For example, they have a new Nissan Urvan with very good air-conditioning.
Their services offered include:
- airport (pick-up or drop-off)
- out-of-town trip to any point of luzon
