Review of Case Tracker & Searcher App- For USCIS
About Case Tracker & Searcher App- For USCIS
Today we want to provide a review on a great App called “Case Tracker & Searcher – for USCIS Immigration” with software written by Stephen Aldous.
We used this app during our CR-1 Spousal Visa petition application and loved it. We want to share this app with you because we found it very useful.
The USCIS stage of a K-1 Fiance or IR-1/CR-1 Spousal Visa petition is the most frustrating. At the present time, the USCIS stage is the longest wait time at 3-5 months for a K-1 Fiance Visa and 5-7 months for an IR-1/CR-1 spousal visa.
There is really nothing that you can do to speed up the USCIS process. Under the circumstances, the wait time is totally dependent on your service center and their current workload. Ultimately, the processing time of your application depends on how many cases are ahead of you and how long it will take USCIS to get to your case.
See our USCIS Status Page and to find the current processing time for your USCIS Service Center.. The Case Tracker & Searcher- for USCIS Immigration app does the same for you as these two things, plus a lot more.
Don’t you wish you could actually see what case date ranges that USCIS is actually working on right now. That could help you predict how close USCIS is getting to your case or even if they are at or near your case date range. The search part of Case Tracker & Searcher- for USCIS Immigration app will do that for you.

What Does the App Do for You
For example, the app will track the status of multiple USCIS cases through the receipt number including:
- I-129F, Petition for Alien Fiancé(e)
- I-131, Application for Travel Document
- I-140, Immigration Petition for Alien Worker
- I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status
- I-765, Application for Employment Authorization
- N-400, Application for Naturalization
K-1 Fiance Visa applicants, not only will it track your I-129F petition, but later it can track your adjustment of status, application for employment authorization, green card production, and removal of conditions.
CR-1 Spousal Visa applicants, not only will it track your I-485 petition, but later it can track your green card production and removal of conditions.
IR-1 Spousal Visa applicants, not only will it track your I-485 petition, but later it can track your green card production.
In addition, the app allows you to check the current status, search for a range of up to 500 other receipt statuses (use this to see where USCIS is currently in their work), look at the USCIS Bulletin, and the USCIS News.
Cost of the App
The app is free to download, but the free version will come with ads. If the ads do not bother you, then keep the free version. Additionally, you can purchase an upgrade to remove ads for a one-time fee of only $1.99.
Where to Download the App
Case Tracker & Searcher- for USCIS Immigration app is downloaded through iTunes or the App Store. In this case, download on your mobile device and search for “Case Tracker & Searcher- for USCIS Immigration”.
Case Tracker & Searcher- for USCIS Immigration app is compatible for an iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. The software requires iOS 9.0 or later. On the contrary, for those with Android and Windows, the app will not work on your systems.
How to Use the App
Enter Receipt Number
After you have downloaded the app and clicked on the app icon, the first thing that you should do is add your case numbers. To demonstrate, do this by pressing the gray circle with the + near the top below My Cases.
You will then see a pop up box to enter your USCIS receipt number(s). The receipt number is your unique 13-character identifier consisting of 3-letters and 10-numbers.
After entering the case number click “Add Case”. If you have more than one case, you can enter multiple receipt numbers.
Check Case Status
After you have entered your case number, you can check the status of your case by pressing the “My Cases” tab in the lower left hand corner. That will give you the current status of your case. In general, this will be the same status as what you see on the USCIS Case Status Page.
You will see one of the following case status statements:
- Case was received
- Request for Additional Evidence was Mailed
- Case was approved
- Response to Request for Additional Evidence was Received
- Case was Rejected
- Case was sent to the Department of State
See our Checking Your USCIS Case Status post for what the different statuses mean.
Searching the Status of Up to 500 Cases
Chiefly, this is the feature of the app that I really like. By searching up to 500 other cases, you can see where USCIS actually is in their current workload. In other words, this can tell you if they are close to or nearing your priority date.
Click on the search icon in the bottom with the magnifying glass. Put in a 13 character identifier 500 less than your number in the upper left. Put 500 in the small top center box and press search.
The app will start scrolling through the 500 cases and give their status. If they all say, “Case was Received”, then USCIS is not within 500 cases of your application yet. Repeat the process by subtracting 500 more until you start seeing cases with statuses other than, “Case was Received”. Once you find different statuses, that is where USCIS is currently working.
Usually, I would suggest not doing this search for at least 2 months as they won’t be anywhere near your number. This is frustrating.
USCIS might skip over your case. For some reason, USCIS doesn’t go exactly in order. It’s like they do chunks here and there. You will may see some cases before and after your number change status. But when this happens, they will usually get to your case within a few days to a week.
The other icon features at the bottom include the USCIS Bulletin and USCIS news which directs you to the USCIS web site for those features.
