Online NonImmigrant Visa Application DS-160
What is the Online Non-Immigrant Visa Application
The online nonimmigrant visa application, DS-160, is the application specifically for the Department of State (DOS) for a K-1 Fiance Visa and other non-immigrant visas. Therefore, complete the form during the DOS NVC Phase.
The form is specifically done on-line in the Consular Electronic Application Center (CEAC).
This application is the Beneficiary’s visa application. For this reason, most of the information to fill in on the form is of the Beneficiary. However, there is a minor amount of information to fill in of the Petitioner.
See our K-1 Fiance Visa NVC Phase Page for more information.

Firstly, chose the location where you will be applying for the visa. Normally this is the embassy or consulate of your foreign fiance.
Once you have access, start entering information into the form.
All answers must specifically be in English.
Most fields on the DS-160 are mandatory. You may leave fields marked “Optional” blank or select “Does Not Apply.” All other fields must be completed: the application will not allow you to submit a form with any mandatory fields left blank. If you do not answer questions that apply, your form may be rejected.
If you cannot finish, you may save the partially completed DS-160 by clicking save and log out.
You can access your saved application by returning to the website and sign in with your application ID and security question. Specifically, click “Retrieve an Application” button.
Secondly, upload your passport photograph. Detailed guidelines for taking and submitting a quality photograph are on the U.S. Department of State website.
At the end sign the form electronically and submit.
Lastly, print out the confirmation page and bring it to your interview. You do not need to bring the completed DS-160 to the interview.
