Review of Hotel H2O- Luneta, Manila, Philippines
About Hotel H2O
Hotel H2O is in the Luneta District of Manila in the Philippines. In the foreground, the famous Quirino Grandstand sits on Independence Road which is off from Roxas Boulevard.
Markedly, the hotel is actually on Manila Bay as it sits on piers just off the shore of the bay.
Alongside the building that the hotel occupies is also the home of Manila Ocean Park. Notably, the Manila Ocean Park is an oceanarium that houses about 14,000 sea creatures from Southeast Asia.
The Manila Ocean Park is on the ground floor of the building and Hotel H2O occupies floors 2 and 3. If you want to go to the oceanarium and need a place to stay, then Hotel H2O is for you.
The restaurant for the hotel, as well as an outdoor seating area that looks out into Manila Bay, is located on the ground floor.
Check-in time is at 2 p.m. or after and the minimum age to check in is 18.
Check-in at Hotel H2O is a little different from most because reception and check-in is on the 2nd floor. However, the way to do it is to enter at the taxi round about, not at the Manila Ocean Park main stair entrance. Here there is a pre-check in booth for Hotel H2O at the taxi round about.
From there, the bell hops can take your luggage to the 2nd floor reception and check-in. You will then be directed to the 2nd floor for check-in.
You then go through the Manila Ocean Park entrance but take a left and up the elevator to the 2nd floor before going into the oceanarium.
If you are driving yourself, there is parking available. At the time of this posting, the self parking fee is 100 PHP and valet parking fee is 55 PHP per night.
There is a 2,000 PHP security hold required for staying at Hotel H2O. You can pay by cash and have your cash returned when you check out, if no damage, lol. You can also have the 2,000 php hold put on your credit or debit card, and credited back after check-out.

Our Honest Review
We stayed two separate times at Hotel H2O.
The first stay was for two nights when I arrived in Manila for three weeks for our wedding. I arrived Saturday night and had an appointment at the U.S. Embassy first thing Monday morning to get my Legal Capacity to Marry. Hotel H2O is a great location to stay as it is within walking distance of the U.S. Embassy. For the first time that we stayed at H2O, Lea and I were alone and we reserved an aqua room.
The second stay was for one night to pick up my family at the Manila airport and take Lea’s family to Ocean Park for the day while waiting for my brother’s night flight. We got an aqua room for us and our son, an aqua room for my brother and his wife, and a park room for Lea’s brother, sister and kids.
The aqua room aquarium is wonderful. For example, we love watching the beautiful colorful fish swim by. The room is spacious and clean. Also, the bed is comfy.
On the negative, the bathroom in the aqua rooms have issues. The bath walls are made of glass so there is no privacy. Also, the water from the shower leaks out the stall and all over the bathroom floor.
On the positive, the location was great for us as I had an appointment at the US Embassy and we toured Intromoros which is close by.
Be prepared that there are lots of kids around as The Manila Ocean Park is also there. Sometimes the hallways can get very noisy and wild with kids. There were kids playing in the hall ways and running up and down ringing the doorbells. We had our door bell rung many times by kids playing in the halls. There are also many people outside as the hotel and Ocean Park crowds mix as they share the same entrance. You have to walk through portions of Ocean Park.
Staff is very friendly, helpful with attention to detail. Always, You are greeted with, ” good morning sir, good morning mam.”
Food and Drink
Breakfast is fabulous. So much to choice from and different varieties of Asian, western, fruits, salads and juices available.wonderful.
Another key point, we felt that the dinner meal was very expensive for the quality. However, we did find a great Filipino seafood place close by that was really good (Harbor View). See our review of Harbor View Restaurant Here.
On our second trip, we had a wonderful time with our son, nephew and niece. for this purpose. Earlier, we went to Ocean Park and had a great time. In fact, Hotel H2O was a great place to rest after the enjoyable day at the park. Later, we saw the light show from the park view room we rented for my sister in law and the kids.
